About Forecast Friends
Forecast Friends puts each place on its own card: where you are now, plus any locations you save, whether that's home, a trip you're planning or where family lives. Everything is on the card, with no tapping in.
On each card
- Current conditions, feels-like and today's range, with wind, humidity, pressure, UV, cloud cover, air quality, and sun and moon times.
- The next 24 hours as a chart of sky, rain, temperature and wind. Press and hold, or hover, for any hour's numbers.
- A nine-day outlook. Tap a day to see it hour by hour.
- Extras you can switch on in Settings: pollen, tides on coastal cards, details for sky watchers, and how today compares with past years.
Forecast cartoons
Every card can swap its forecast for a four-panel cartoon of the next few days, starring an animal that actually lives in that place and changes daily. The cartoons are drawn by an AI image model, so they're occasionally wrong, which is part of the charm.
Maps
Each card opens a live map with radar, satellite, temperature, wind, air quality and alert layers. The phone and tablet apps add wind in motion, wildfire perimeters, smoke, snow and hurricane tracks.
Alerts
The apps can notify you of severe-weather warnings for a card, and of rain about to start where you are. You choose how serious a warning must be and can set quiet hours. Severe-weather alerts cover the United States only.
Please don't rely on this app alone. Alerts are a convenience, not a warning system; one can arrive late or not at all. In dangerous weather, keep an independent source such as Wireless Emergency Alerts, a NOAA Weather Radio or local broadcast media.

- Forecasts, sunrise and sunset: Apple Weather
- Moon, dark hours and the Milky Way: our own calculations
- Air quality and pollen: Google
- Tides and past years: NOAA (United States)
- Severe-weather warnings: U.S. National Weather Service, and Apple Weather elsewhere
- Weather maps: Xweather (Vaisala), on Mapbox base maps
- Place search: Apple Maps
- Cartoons: drawn by Google Gemini
About the project
Forecast Friends is a small, independent project from Tech Bebop LLC, with no ads, trackers or analytics. The apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch are free on the App Store, with Android coming soon. The basics are free; Premium ($3.99 a month, or $29.99 a year with a 7-day free trial) adds more saved locations, unlimited cartoons and maps, severe-weather alerts for your saved locations, and this website. What we store is spelled out on the privacy page.
